Newsletter April 2023
Hello everyone! We hope you are all well and healthy.
Welcome to our first newsletter in 2023! We at St Winefride’s would like to let you all know what we have all been getting up to so far this year.
During January we took part in the BBC Birdwatch. We made some birdfeeders and have put seeds on the table regularly trying to attract different types of birds. We had the usual pigeons and seagulls visits. They enjoyed the pinecone feeders we made. We’ve also had the occasional magpie, also a few different birds had tried their luck. A few sparrows visit in the morning and even a robin has been spotted buy our eagle-eyed residents. We also had a visit from a fox who was seen (from a safe distance) enjoying running through the garden.
We continue to get fantastic entertainers visit. We have had Shay who sings country and western, Tim West who with his guitar plays songs everyone loves; Kim and her lovely dresses and a wonderful voice gets everyone up and dancing and we also have Angela who brings in instruments & fun hats for everyone to enjoy and gets everyone moving and singing along. All the residents love them and the majority will sing and dance along to them all.

In February, we also had a meeting with the residents and changed our winter menu to spring menu from 1st of April. The feedback is just amazing and the plates coming back empty! This menu has a vegetarian option every day and our residents seem to love it.
We continue to have Kids Breakfast Club every morning. We see staff children popping in before and after school. They interact with residents and form intergenerational friendships.
Buddy is also doing a hard job. He comes to work every day and entertains everyone! Residents love spending time with him, giving him treats, taking him out for a walk to the garden and giving him so much needed pampering.
In April, we had duckling eggs. We watched them hatch and grow. The kids were teaching them to swim, and residents enjoyed cuddling them.
We also had an Easter Egg Hunt party. All the children and some residents enjoyed hunting for chocolate eggs and then eating them. This was followed by a homemade buffet and drinks.
This year we have refurbished our ground floor toilets, we put new non-slippery flooring in our kitchen and dining room. We are planning to change the flooring in the laundry room and in the staff room.
